In The News:
“The New Orleans Saints are firing back at a retired Navy commander who declined to be honored at their game Sunday because of players protesting during the national anthem,”
BRIGHTON, Colo. – “A Colorado sheet metal worker could face multiple charges, including attempted murder, in addition to first-degree murder charges related to the shooting deaths of three people inside a Walmart, a prosecutor said Friday.”
“The Obama administration’s open-borders polices continue to prevail in some under-the-radar decisions of the federal government, despite the election of Donald Trump.
This is about a single example of this behavior, in which U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) seems to define the law as exactly opposite from what it appears to say. All this can be seen as a small-scale effort to cut employers’ costs for H-1B workers and thus (indirectly) to encourage the hiring of more of them. This clearly runs directly counter to the White House’s “Hire American” policy.”
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has written a letter to the acting head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to urge that temporary protected status (TPS) be extended for nationals of El Salvador, Honduras, and Haiti when current their protections expire.
I encourage you to read it. The letter is a smooth-worded masterpiece of non sequiturs that urges continuation of the protected status that has been extended in each instance for far too long (“[t]hese designations have been in place since 2001, 1999, and 2010 respectively”) and for all the wrong reasons. It not-so-subtly suggests that the aliens who have been the happy recipients of our government’s abusive largesse of TPS in their behalf should be granted amnesty: While the Chamber appreciates that the TPS program is intended to be temporary, the reality is these individuals have now lived and worked in communities across this nation for in some cases nearly two decades now. We urge you to extend the current TPS designations and to work with Congress on a more permanent resolution to the status of these TPS beneficiaries. (Emphasis added.)
“Washington, D.C. (November 2, 2017) – The Center for Immigration Studies published several articles detailing the Diversity Visa Lottery program’s history and relevant statistics following the attack by the Uzbek terror suspect in New York City. Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov is the fifth Diversity Visa Lottery recipient to be involved in terrorist acts in the United States.”
“The Senate Democrats’ hell no caucus is saying hell yes to a shutdown showdown over Dreamers.
Democrats have pressed Republicans to pass legislation by the end of the year to continue the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which grants hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants legal protections that President Donald Trump has vowed to end.”
Terrorism / Islam / War on Terror:
“The past half-year has been turning sour for a U.S.-based jihadist cult with a terrorist history that claims to be establishing “peaceful” Islamic villages across America. The group is being affected by multiple arrests of its members while it prepares for the impending death of its leader in Pakistan.
Since May, five reported members and associates of Muslims of America (MOA) have been arrested for crimes ranging from murder to illegal weapons possession to running illicit drugs to forgery. MOA used to be known as Jamaat ul-Fuqra.”
“The new House Republican tax bill would cut taxes by almost $2 trillion over the next 10 years and boost economic growth enough to create 975,000 additional new jobs, according to an analysis released Friday by the Tax Foundation.
The think tank also estimated that the bill would boost wages by more than 3.1 percent over the long term, a helpful finding to Republicans.”
“Three House Republicans on Friday introduced a resolution calling on Special Counsel Robert Mueller to recuse himself from the probe of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential race.”
“In the latest of a slew of corrupt Afghanistan reconstruction projects, the U.S. government blew more than $4 million on a shoddy military training center in Kabul, according to a federal audit released this month. It’s part of a broader, fraud-infested initiative that nevertheless keeps receiving huge sums of American taxpayer dollars. When the Taliban was booted from power in 2001, Uncle Sam committed a huge chunk of change to help rebuild Afghanistan by building and renovating facilities such as schools, prisons, hospitals and industrial parks.
As of March 2017, Congress has appropriated an eye-popping $117.3 billion for U.S. relief and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan.”
Government Corruption / Russian Collusion:
Weekly Update: New FBI/Clinton Scandal. Tom Fitton on FBI Recusal Scandal in Clinton Investigation, DOJ & Clinton Corruption, & Mueller
Americas Bias and Hate:
“Rep. Maxine Waters called out Attorney General Jeff Sessions following this week’s developments in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.
“Sessions doesn’t remember what he said, when he said it, & where he was when he said it. Don’t blame him,” the California Democrat tweeted Friday afternoon.”
“Internal discussions at Google, leaked exclusively to Breitbart News shine further light on the problem, revealing that conservative Googlers who voice concerns about political bias are often belittled and ignored by fellow employees.”
“The U.S. has begun its first airstrikes against the Islamic State in Somalia, expanding the number of countries where it’s hitting the terror group.
The U.S. launched two airstrikes Friday in Somalia, killing numerous terrorists, which comes a day after President Donald Trump said he would increase airstrikes and other operations against ISIS, following the terrorist attack in New York City perpetrated by Sayfullo Saipov that claimed eight lives.”
Commentary / Opinion:
“U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly is a lowly U.S. District Court judge in the District of Columbia. She is not the Commander-in-Chief.
Yet she has somehow appointed herself commandant of the entire United States military in an astonishing display of hubris and judicial supremacy. She ruled this week that transgenders must be allowed to serve in the military, overturning the president’s executive order on the matter.
Senatorial candidate Judge Roy Moore, who knows a thing or two about confronting an out-of-control judiciary, today called for this judge’s impeachment, and of course he is right to do so. But we don’t need to wait that long. “
