One of the great qualities of art is that it can transcend social, political, and ethnic divisions in appealing to the aesthetic and concepts of beauty or meaning. While the backgrounds and periods of artists often inform the viewing of their work, it is the art not the artist that it is focus most people. The Baltimore Museum of Art, however, cannot separate the race of the artist from the art. It is selling masterpieces by white painters to buy art of non-white artists in a move that its own director, Christopher Bedford calls “an unusual and radical act to take.”
The Illinois Senate passed a bill Wednesday that would require public schools in the state to teach lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) history, as well as use inclusive and “non-discriminatory” textbooks.
The bill, which passed with a 34-18 vote, would require “all elementary and high schools to teach a unit studying ‘the role and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this State,’” The Associated Press reported.

Nine-year-old cheerleader Mikayla Lange was surprised with a very special good luck message from her father, Sgt. First Class Robert Lange, stationed halfway across the world with the National Guard.
Ahead of a national competition, Lange’s teammates’ dads performed a hilarious cheer routine and, soon after they were done, the little athlete from Iowa was shocked to see her own father on a video screen whip out a routine of his own with his military unit in the Middle East.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville police said a suspect is in custody and there’s no further threat after a person was wounded inside Nashville’s Opry Mills Mall.
The mall was evacuated after reports of gunfire that prompted a large police response. At least half a dozen ambulances converged on the scene. One person was taken in critical condition to Skyline Medical Center, the Nashville Fire Department said in a tweet.

QAMISHLI, Syria – Belgium native Hamza Nmeie, 27, claims to be one of few foreign fighters to have seen the barbaric and bloody rise of the Islamic State in Syria, long before the group was known to the world.
He arrived in the region fresh-faced in June, 2013 and signed up for what was then the Syrian al-Qaeda affiliate, known as al-Nusra. He then became among the first to pledge his way into the Islamic State (ISIS), he said, and witnessed the group’s rise and decline as the “caliphate” crumbled under a U.S.-led coalition effort in Iraq and Syria.
A major gang crackdown aimed at so-called Mexican Mafia operations in Orange County, Calif., has led to 85 arrests of “middle management” gang leaders, officials said Wednesday.
The three-month investigation, dubbed “Operation Scarecrow,” was one of the largest operations in county history, Orange County Undersheriff Don Barnes told the Orange County Register.
Authorities confiscated 36 firearms, 14 pounds of methamphetamine and three pounds of heroin, the report said.
Police were called to 63 3rd Street at around 11 p.m. Wednesday night for a stabbing which severely injured a woman. When they arrived, a man was waiting in the street, told them there was a woman in the house who had been stabbed by her boyfriend.

The most controversial form of research the commission found was on the “fetus outside the womb,” involving “fetuses delivered by abortion.” The commission claimed hundreds of reports of such cases had been conducted. Experiments were also conducted on already expired fetuses from spontaneous or induced abortions. Below is a small sample of what the commission found:
The commission ultimately drafted several recommendations, including a restriction on experimenting on living abortion survivors. But their report also recommended that research resulting in “no harm to the fetus” be permitted, so long as that research might benefit other fetuses.
Unfortunately, this did not stop the push for the research nor the push to obtain federal funding. According to a historical timeline of fetal research regulations published in a report by the Institute of Medicine:
Despite laws prohibiting the federal funding of abortion, Planned Parenthood received more than a half a billion dollars in government grants and reimbursements last year.
After failing to defund Planned Parenthood through legislation, Republican lawmakers are asking federal regulators to deny taxpayer dollars to the nation’s largest abortionist.
On Tuesday afternoon, 41 senators and 153 congressmen sent letters to the Department of Health and Human Services asking the agency to cut off Title X funding to Planned Parenthood—a sliver of the $500 million the abortion provider receives from taxpayers each year.
The S.C. Senate voted Wednesday night to outlaw virtually all abortions in South Carolina.
The Legislature’s upper chamber voted 28-10 to allow exceptions only in cases of rape, incest or medical emergencies that could seriously harm the pregnant woman or threaten her life. The bill still faces long odds to passage, up against a Democratic filibuster that could put off a final Senate vote until after lawmakers adjourn for the year.
Over a million more people moved out of California from 2006 to 2016 than moved in, according to a new report, due mainly to the high cost of housing that hits lower-income people the hardest.
California homeowners spend an average of 21.9% of their income on housing costs, the 49th worst in the nation, while renters spend 32.8%, the 48th worst. The median rent statewide in 2016 was $1,375, which is 40.2% higher than the national average. And the median home price was — wait for it — more than double that of the national average.
One coping strategy: California residents are more likely to double up. Nearly 14% of renter households had more than one person per bedroom, the highest reading for this category in the nation.

In Caputo’s closing statement obtained by the Washington Examiner, he said the panel’s investigation “forced” his family out of their home and “crushed” his children due to mounting legal costs associated with the inquiry.
“Today, I can’t possibly pay the attendant legal costs and live near my aging father, raising my kids where I grew up,” Caputo said. “Your investigation and others into the allegations of Trump campaign collusion with Russia are costing my family a great deal of money — more than $125,000 — and making a visceral impact on my children.”
Speaking out Wednesday evening, Caputo also said he believes there is a “punishment strategy” to “destroy” Trump and deter any other billionaires in the future from thinking about running for president.
Just out of an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller, Caputo told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson he’s certain that federal investigators are fixated on collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Caputo said he firmly believes there was never any collusion.
“Ivanka Trump? I think I would get on my charger and go ride into their offices with a lance, if they go after Ivanka,”Giuliani said. “Now if they do do Ivanka, which I don’t think they will, the whole country will turn on them. If they go after her, the whole country will turn on them. They’re going after his daughter?”
Giuliani was responding to a recent report from Politico , which made the case that Mueller would interview Ivanka Trump, but likely do so at the end in order to be as risk-averse as possible.
Political opponents of President Donald Trump have “weaponized” the security-clearance process against him in an undemocratic “power grab,” stalling his nominations and systematically impeding White House operations, the lawyer for a top Defense Department official wrote Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal.
The charge comes less than a month after U.S. Sen. Rand Paul revealed that two romantically involved FBI officials who were removed from special counsel Robert Mueller’s team over a series of anti-Trump text messages still have Top Secret security clearances.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone published Thursday, Chozick said that there was a “fascinating swirl” of “alleged sexual abusers” in Clinton’s orbit.
“I certainly don’t blame [Hillary] for the bad-behaving men around her, but I do think there was a fascinating swirl of these alleged sexual abusers. Here was Hillary Clinton, married to an alleged sexual abuser, trying to defeat an alleged sexual abuser – and then with the Anthony Weiner email story prompted the Comey letter and all that – could lose because of this alleged sexual abuser. It was really something,” Chozick said.
Vince Foster, Hillary’s lawyer friend from Arkansas who died by his own hand in 1993, once said of Washington, D.C., “Here, ruining people is considered sport.” He had learned the hard way how brutal is the game of politics, especially if one works for the Clintons. What Ted Kennedy did to Judge Robert Bork to keep him off the Supreme Court in 1986 was a disgusting and vicious perversion of the Constitution. What they did to Clarence Thomas in 1991, with Joe Biden in the Kennedy role, was beyond the pale and certainly racist; as we still see today, the left cannot allow black Americans to be conservative, especially one as brilliant as Thomas. As the Clintons came to dominate and control the Democratic Party from 1992 on, the game became more sinister and more dangerous.
Over the past twenty-six years, the virus that is the Clintons on the American body politic has metastasized into a virulent auto-immune disease. They are a virus that seeks to utterly destroy what it sees as an enemy but may well end up demolishing itself, with devastating results. With Trump’s win, this virus amped up its attack on all things Trump: his supporters, his agenda, his family, his friends, and his Cabinet and staff. So intent on getting and keeping power and massive amounts of ill gotten riches were they that the American people chose, once and for all, to reject Hillary and to inoculate themselves from further damage at the hands of the Clintons and their sycophants.
But a disease for which only half of the antibiotics are given becomes angrier and even stronger. The Democratic Party today has moved so far to the left, become so radicalized, that it is a blight on the American landscape. Its favored strategy is to destroy everything, anyone, and anything that stands in its way – thus the Mueller witch hunt that has cost so many so much. Gen. Flynn has lost his house. Michael Cohen’s homes and office were raided. Michael Caputo, a “witness,” let the Senate committee know what he thinks when he said to them, “God [d—] you to Hell.” It remains to be seen if the DOJ I.G. report we await will tell the true story of their diabolical contempt for all that is good about this nation.
The 16-month Inspector General review of the DOJ/FBI investigation of the Hillary Clinton email is soon to be made public. The IG inquiry is specifically looking into whether the FBI investigation was corrupted by political influence in their determination of the Clinton outcome. The preliminary investigative outcomes speak for themselves.
As a result of the known OIG investigative findings already the top FBI and DOJ officials in charge of the Clinton investigation have been fired, demoted or removed from responsibility: Director James Comey (fired), Deputy Director Andrew McCabe (fired), FBI Legal Counsel James Baker (removed – status unknown); FBI investigative Agent Peter Strzok (demoted, reassigned); DOJ special counsel to McCabe, Lisa Page, (removed, reassigned); and DOJ Deputy AAG Bruce Ohr (demoted, twice).
The OIG review of the DOJ and FBI conduct has taken a long time; and with good reason. The scale of the misconduct is staggering. John Spiropoulos, a former TV news reporter at WJLA, the ABC affiliate in Washington, DC, has created a series of video reports as a reminder on the background on the crime, the coverup and the corruption.

Today is the National Day of Prayer. As a Christian, and a priest at that, every day is a day of prayer for me. But I am still grateful our nation sets aside a day for prayer.
Prayer changes people. Every time I pray, I know that it changes me and my life. Sometimes, I am even blessed to see change in others as I pray for them. For people of faith, prayer is an indispensable part of our relationship with God. All relationships require conversation, and prayer is our chance to talk with God. In prayer we share our hopes with God, and we listen for God’s hope for us.
