In The News:
Wondering why your paycheck didn’t grow as much as you’d hoped after last year’s tax cut?
The fault may lie in your withholding allowance, a choice most U.S. workers make when they join an employer and seldom update – and one that economists at investment bank Morgan Stanley say may mean a windfall for taxpayers in early 2019.
Even before a GOP-controlled Congress approved a massive corporate tax cut that also reduced individual rates in most of seven escalating tax brackets, employers were withholding more from paychecks than workers would actually owe. It’s the reason why taxpayers received $235 billion in refunds this year through the April 17 federal filing deadline.
A potentially deadly brain-eating amoeba has been detected in a Louisiana neighborhood’s drinking water — the third time the terrifying discovery has been madein the same parish since 2015, reports said.
Naegleria fowleri, which causes fatal brain swelling and tissue destruction, was found over the weekend in Terrebonne Parish, deep in the Louisiana bayou about an hour south of New Orleans, WWL-TV reported.
A 67-year-old Oregon woman died on Wednesday after contracting a rare, incurable disease typically transmitted through rodent droppings. The Deschutes County Health Department said the woman, identified as Lindy Farr, had been placed on a ventilator at St. Charles Redmond before being airlifted to Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland on Sunday.
A friend told the Bend Bulletin that around Memorial Day, Farr had taken a Shop-vac out to the family’s barn to clean out a loft that they used for guests.
“She had gone out with a Shop-vac. She didn’t know, as well as most people didn’t, that you should wear protective gear and all that stuff,” Sheila Hunt told the news outlet.
A teenager suspected of fatally shooting a friend during a game of ‘Russian roulette’ posted a disturbing video after the incident where he reportedly said: “Bro, I just caught a body”.
Matthew Minkler’s body was found late Friday in an abandoned house in Henderson, Nev., roughly 16 miles from Las Vegas. He had been shot in the face with a .375-caliber revolver.
While the two suspects claim that the 17-year-old died during a game of Russian roulette, his mother Jamie Shanklin disputes what happened and believes he was deliberately targeted.

Sanders reportedly would leave before the end of 2018. But Sanders has since refuted the claim.
Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to host North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un in Russia, following President Trump’s summit with the reclusive tyrant.
Putin delivered the message to a senior North Korean diplomat in Moscow, the latest development in a series of exchanges between Russia and the Kim regime. Both Russia and China officially oppose North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, but they have an interest in resolving the crisis in a way diminishes the U.S. military presence in the region.
“I would like to confirm and ask you to convey our invitation to the leader of North Korea, Comrade Kim Jong-un, to make a visit to Russia,” Putin said Thursday, per TASS, a state-run media outlet. “We are ready to continue working to [a diplomatic solution] and take the necessary steps together with you in order to build relations and economic cooperation.”
According to IMD, an international business school based in Switzerland, the United States has returned to its top position in world competitiveness rankings after earning only a fourth place finish last year.
Being No. 1 always looks good, but it looks especially good considering that under the Obama administration, the country fell to as low as seventh place in a different set of rankings in 2012-13, according to the World Economic Forum.
Politics/Deep State/Government Corruption/ IG Report:
Freedom Caucus stalwarts Ron DeSantis, Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz made an angry appearance on Fox News’ Hannity Wednesday night.
Their well-aimed rage was at the shocking and illegal behavior of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who unimaginably threatened House Intelligence members and their staff with the threat of unleashing the power of the Department of Justice on them if they did not back off their investigation of stonewalling and obstruction by the Rosenstein and the DOJ.
The New York state attorney general’s office on Thursday filed a lawsuit against the Donald J. Trump Foundation for alleged illegal conduct and “unlawful political coordination” to benefit personal and business interests, drawing a harsh Twitter rebuke from President Trump.
The suit was brought Thursday, following a months-long investigation led by “disgraced” – in Trump’s words – former Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
But the president fired back on Twitter Thursday, blasting the lawsuit, and Schneiderman for “never” having “the guts” to bring the suit while he held the post.
“The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won’t settle this case!” Trump tweeted.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement that the report “reveals a number of significant errors by the senior leadership of the Department of Justice and the FBI during the previous administration.”
In an interview with The Hill’s new web show “Rising” on Wednesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the option of “termination” is on the table for those accused of serious wrongdoing. Some of the key figures, though, have already been fired or left the government.
The Justice Department inspector general on Thursday castigated former FBI Director James B. Comey for his actions during the Hillary Clinton email investigation and found that other senior bureau officials showed a “willingness to take official action” to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president.
The report will leave many unsatisfied — and undeterred. Comey went from a persona non grata to a patron saint for many Clinton supporters. Comey, who has made millions of dollars with a tell-all book portraying himself as the paragon of “ethical leadership,” continues to maintain that he would take precisely the same actions again.
Ironically, Comey, fired FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, FBI agent Peter Strzok and others, by their actions, just made it more difficult for special counsel Robert Mueller to prosecute Trump for obstruction. There is now a 500-page report conclusion by career investigators that Comey violated core agency rules and undermined the integrity of the FBI. In other words, there was ample reason to fire James Comey.
The FBI said it has accepted the findings of an inspector general report that faulted actions taken by top officials during the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server, and is developing a training purpose to eliminate bias within its ranks.
The bureau said that “the appearance of bias is disconcerting and potentially damaging to the FBI’s ability to perform its mission,” and in response, will train all personnel over the next few months.
“[T]he FBI is instituting new political bias training, drawing from, among other sources, the training, guidance, and practices of the federal judiciary. To commence within 120 days, training will begin with senior leadership and the Senior Executive Service (SES) ranks, with the objectives of discussing the OIG Report, lessons learned, and the need for scrupulous, unwavering adherence to the policies and procedures intended to combat potential political bias,” said the FBI.
EXCLUSIVE: The murky nature of Hillary Clinton’s former presidential campaign fund continues to rise to the surface.
Fox News has learned that one of the top donors to the “Hillary Victory Fund” (HVF) in 2016 was a Los Angeles-based attorney who is alleged to have misused company funds to create his own $22 million real estate portfolio. He has also been considered by California to be one of the state’s biggest tax cheats, and allegedly has ties to the Kremlin.
“Foreign actors” obtained access to some of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails — including at least one email classified as “secret” — according to a new memo from two GOP-led House committees and an internal FBI email.
Fox News obtained the memo prepared by the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, which lays out key interim findings ahead of next week’s hearing with Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz. The IG, separately, is expected to release his highly anticipated report on the Clinton email case later Thursday.
Dangerous people are filling the heads of young people with dangerous nonsense. Who are these people? They are what Jordan Peterson calls “the post-modernists:” neo-Marxist professors who dominate our colleges and universities. And here’s the worst part: we are financing these nihilists with tax dollars, alumni gifts and tuition payments. Time to wise up.
