Kelley says the 5-year-old twins, pictured holding hands in the hospital, survived with only minor injuries because their 29-year-old mother threw her body in front of them to block the impact.
“Her body saved them,” Kelley said. “The boys say they saw her open her eyes, and look at them and then she closed her eyes, never opened them again. They remember that.”
Michigan State Police is investigating the fatal crash and says the speeding driver, who fled the scene and was later located at the hospital, was driving on a suspended license, had five current suspensions and two local warrants on top of two prior convictions.
“I am devastated,” Kelley said. “I cannot believe that this man wasn’t in prison for his entire life for all of his warrants. I can’t believe he was behind the wheel doing 90 miles per hour in an SUV.”

2 SUVs carrying up to 44 migrants entered US through hole in border fence, crashed in separate accidents
Customs and Border Protection told Fox News that a hole was cut in a border barrier near Calexico, Calif., with both vehicles managing to avoid a camera system set up near the gap.
The hole in the border barrier was discovered by Border Patrol agents at 6:05 a.m. on Tuesday, just 10 minutes after the vehicle was discovered on fire, and an hour before the fatal crash.
Immediately after the discovery, agents reviewed surveillance footage showing two vehicles in the area of the fence breach.
The Border Patrol’s El Centro sector chief Gregory Bovino said the accidents demonstrate the careless way human smugglers treat their victims.
There are currently 15 gas stations in Petaluma, and city officials have decided that the small North Bay city doesn’t need any more.
The ban — after a unanimous city council vote this week — makes the Sonoma County city the first in the nation to halt the construction of new gas stations.
The city is also targeting zero emissions by 2030, and encouraging current fossil fuel gas stations to transition to battery and hydrogen cell stations.
Existing gas stations will not be allowed to add more pumps, though they can instead add more infrastructure for electric vehicles.
In the last week of February, 321 children per day were referred to HHS custody, a sharp jump from the weekly average of 203 in late January and early February, according to documents reviewed by Axios.
The shelter system is already at 94 percent occupancy and is expected to reach maximum occupancy this month.
The HHS has also increased the speed with which children are released to caretakers already in the United States, according to the leaked documents. The data shows that an average of 174 children per day were released from HHS custody in the last week of February.
The Department of Homeland Security projected there will be 117,000 unaccompanied child migrants crossing the border this year, but over 6,000 migrants at 16 and 17 years old were caught in just the last month.

That’s a big no-no on some platforms we stream to. We try to play by the rules, but we will not censor President Trump. We’re not going to remove or edit this video. Just so we’re all clear- if it gets removed, we didn’t do it.”
C-SPAN has not been taking over by the Maoists of Big Tech yet and still has Trump’s speech in full online.
Maryam Qudrat says the teachers union asked her about her past media interviews, as well as her ethnicity and class status, as part of a “project” and now, she is crying foul.
Qudrat has a seventh-grader enrolled in LAUSD and for months, she had advocated for kids to return to in-person schooling and has given media interviews criticizing UTLA for refusing to reopen schools.
“Their conclusion is if you want schools to reopen right now, then that means you are racist against African Americans and Latinos,” Qudrat added.
“I stood in the rain on strike with the teachers when they wanted to get their pay raise a couple of years ago,” Qudrat said. “And to see them now basically turning this way, it’s frankly scary the way they’re taking education, pinning white and Middle Eastern against black and brown.”

The film features extensive interviews with Thomas and chronicles his journey from “the depths of poverty” to the Supreme Court and everything in between, including his contentious confirmation hearings where Anita Hill accused him of sexual harassment.
President Joe Biden, who was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee during the hearings that riveted the nation, grilled Hill in archival footage used in the film.
The films does not paint Biden in a positive light; Thomas told viewers at one point he had “no idea” what Biden and other Senate questioners were talking about.
Thomas spoke on everything from race and politics to religion in the documentary.

Former Shell Oil President John Hofmeister argues the Biden administration’s pause in oil and gas leasing on federal lands will create a ‘psychology’ in the industry that there will be less available.
The sources said one former senior FBI official has provided invaluable cooperation and context to what decisions FBI leadership and field agents were making in the probe on such consequential matters as what to tell Congress, the courts and Justice Department lawyers about the flaws, political origins and falsehoods in the Russia collusion narrative.
The FBI and President Barack Obama were warned in summer 2016 — well before the first FISA warrant was issued — that Hillary Clinton might be concocting a bogus Russia collusion scandal to “vilify” Trump and distract from her own email scandal.

Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson explains why he was only Dem to vote against massive HR 1 election bill
Thompson, of Mississippi, joined with all Republicans late Wednesday to vote against the House Democrats’ top legislative priority, known as the For the People Act of 2021.
Thompson’s vote was surprising since he was a co-sponsor of the legislation along with the rest of the Democratic caucus.
“My constituents opposed the redistricting portion of the bill as well as the section on public finances,” Thompson said in a statement to Fox News. “I always listen and vote in the interest of my constituents.”
Numbered H.R. 1 to signify it is the top priority of House Democrats, the legislation would also enact automatic voter registration, restore voting rights to felons after they have completed their sentences and expand early voting access and absentee voting.
It also prohibits voter roll purges and partisan gerrymandering of congressional districts, imposes new campaign finance rules, and requires presidential nominees to release 10 years of tax returns.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi said thousands of National Guard troops at the U.S. Capitol should remain “as long as they are needed,” following a request by the Capitol Police that they stay in place for another two months.
“We have to have what we need when we need it, and in the numbers that we need,” the California Democrat told reporters Thursday in response to the Capitol Police request. “But that’s a security decision.”
Thousands of troops remain in and around the Capitol.
“President Biden said in putting together the bill, he said we want to meet you, us, the Republicans, halfway. If that’s the case he’s a damn poor judge of distance,” Kennedy said during an interview on Fox News.
“He’s rejected everything we’ve proposed. This bill is dreadful.”
The Wall Street Journal editorial board estimated that of the $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan,” only $825 billion was directly related to COVID-19 relief and the other $1 trillion was “expansions of progressive programs, pork, and unrelated policy changes.”
Congressional Republicans are united in opposition to the coronavirus relief package, which they say is too costly, has too many bailouts, and funds too many progressive causes that have nothing to do with coronavirus recovery.

Authorities said some empty houses, which had been abandoned by their inhabitants after suffering damage Wednesday, collapsed but no injuries were reported.

“This latest event came from a section of the faultline that we had not considered to be active. It surprised us.”
The notoriously repressive Communist Party is allegedly applying “emotional recognition technology” in “various fields including health, anti-terrorism, and urban security,” according to the Global Times.
The development of this technology to criminalize feelings follows increasingly alarming developments in Chinese law enforcement, most recently the revelation that Chinese technology giant Huawei is developing facial recognition technology that can identify a person’s ethnicity, making it easier for Chinese police to persecute members of the Uyghur ethnic minority.
Outside of prisons, the state newspaper lauded “emotion recognition technology” for its uses on the road, where police can track the emotions of every driver and stop anyone with “abnormal” feelings.
The Times claimed that the technology is already in use in several states, however, including America, and insisted, citing Chinese government-approved experts, that it is “not an evil ‘mind-reading’ technique.”
The report cited the “malign influence of the regime in China” as one of the most “profound” factors in the rising tide of authoritarianism.
Of course, the pandemic that swept out of China to destabilize the world was a major factor as well, and it was a powerful force multiplier for the identified malevolence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). As the Freedom House report, subtitled Democracy Under Siege, put it:
The spread of the Wuhan coronavirus was accompanied by a matching spread of “excessive surveillance, discriminatory restrictions on freedoms like movement and assembly, and arbitrary or violent enforcement of such restrictions by police and nonstate actors,” which is tantamount to saying the CCP’s worldview and ideology spread along with its virus.
A growing number of ruling regimes took advantage of the coronavirus to “quash opposition and fortify their power,” and China is the world leader in exports for opposition-quashing tactics and technologies.
The ruthlessly exploited emergency powers accumulated during the pandemic, which Freedom House criticized through its 2021 report, will not dissipate until the definition of democracy is resolved.

At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), we sit down with Cleo Paskal, Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, to discuss what nations like the U.S. and Canada can learn from India’s approach to China.
In Hong Kong, virtually every prominent pro-democracy activist and lawmaker has been arrested, prompting growing concerns in Taiwan that Taiwan will soon be next.
Paskal argues that if the U.S. allows Taiwan to fall, much of southeast Asia will soon succumb to the Chinese regime’s influence.

The security forces resorted to live fire with little warning in several towns and cities, witnesses said, as the junta appeared more determined than ever to stamp out protests against the Feb. 1 coup that ousted the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.

In the main city Yangon, witnesses said at least eight people were killed, one early in the day and seven others when security forces opened sustained fire with automatic weapons in a neighborhood in the north of the city in the early evening.
This new bill, just like the old bill, would require that a federal background check be conducted prior to all transfers of firearm possession. To many Americans, this may seem like a reasonable idea. After all, law-abiding gun owners abhor the criminal misuse of firearms.
However, on closer examination, none of the claims from gun control proponents backing this bill holds water. We’re going to explore the top nine reasons this latest piece of gun control legislation is a bad idea.
Federally mandated universal background checks won’t end gun violence nor stop the criminal misuse of firearms, but they will significantly increase the burden of millions of law-abiding Americans who wish only to exercise their Second Amendment right to self-defense.
3. There Is No ‘Gun-Show Loophole’
When someone brings up a desire for more background checks, it is often offered as a solution to close the “gun-show loophole.” There’s one big problem with that claim: there is no “gun-show loophole.” It is a myth.
