Man, woman, child shot to death inside Publix in Florida

A man fatally shot a woman and a child inside a Florida supermarket Thursday before killing himself, authorities said, causing dozens to flee the store in panic.

The shooting happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. at a Publix located in a strip mall that also houses small shops and restaurants.

Detectives are reviewing security video and talking to witnesses, said Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera.

She said investigators believe the shooter and the victims may have known each other. No names have been released.

The paper said the woman, 34, and her baby are both stable and expected to survive, citing Brookhaven Lt. David Snively. The 3-year-old was not injured, the Journal-Constitution added.

The baby is expected to stay in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit “for several months, and the victim is expected to be in the hospital for several more days,” Snively added, the paper said.

Police on Thursday morning arrested suspect Christopher Jones, a homeless man familiar to police who has a history of mental illness, the paper said in a separate story.

A friend of the victim set up a GoFundMe page to cover medical expenses, as the victim and her baby “have a long road ahead of them and a very prolonged hospital stay.”

As of Thursday afternoon, the GoFundMe has raised nearly $71,000 of its $80,000 goal.

California Backs Off Plan To Force Workers To Keep Masking Up

In five days, California is finally supposed to “reopen.” Vaccinated residents will finally be able to go most places without wearing masks or engaging in social distancing.

This is already the case in many states, in compliance with recommendations from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But in California, Gov. Gavin Newsom has used his broad emergency powers to delay the change.

Businesses balked—imagine having to police all this under threat of punishment by the state—and the board reconsidered. On Wednesday, the board unanimously agreed to withdraw the rule it had just passed.

We don’t know quite yet what will replace it, but Chairman David Thomas promised that whatever comes will be designed “so that it matches up with the CDC and the California Department of Public Health, so that we’re all on the same page.

“The state will, unfortunately, maintain some other masking regulations.

Whistleblowers Explain How Biden’s Woke ‘Extremism’ Training Is Tearing the Military Apart

On Thursday, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) revealed the reports of many whistleblowers inside the armed forces who have complained that the military’s training to combat “extremism” has enabled superiors to push critical race theory (CRT) on them.

This has set members of the military against one another and led some soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and guardians to resign.

Cotton pressed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on these issues, asking Austin to explicitly condemn some of the conclusions of critical race theory, such as the idea that the military itself is “fundamentally racist.” Austin begrudgingly rejected that idea, but his responses suggest an unwillingness to actually combat CRT in the military.

Cotton summarized and quoted from many whistleblower reports, some of which proved extremely shocking. The senator said that he and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) have received “severe hundred whistleblower complaints about Pentagon extremist and diversity training.”

“One Marine told us that military history training session was replaced with mandatory training on police brutality, white privilege, and systemic racism. He reported that several officers are now leaving his unit citing that training,” the senator reported.

The Second Coming of Jeffrey Toobin

Appearing as a guest alongside host Alisyn Camerota, and filmed from the waist up, the disgraced analyst sought to atone for the masturbation scandal that cost him his job as a columnist for the New Yorker.

Unlike CNN, the publication deemed his termination necessary to foster “an environment where everyone feels respected and upholds our standards of conduct.”

“I’m a flawed human being who makes mistakes,” said Toobin, who once had a nearly decade-long extramarital affair with Casey Greenfield, the 20-something daughter of a former CBS colleague.

When Toobin’s mistress informed him she was pregnant, according to the New York Times, he “questioned the paternity, balked at submitting to a test, and vowed to take no responsibility for a baby he wasn’t sure was his.”

He eventually acknowledged paternity after being sued for child support.

“We clearly have an imbalance there,” Dr. Tom Shimabukuro of the CDC’s Immunization Safety Office said Thursday at the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee meeting to discuss safety issues surrounding the use of Covid-19 vaccines in children as young as 6 months old.

The majority of cases appear to occur in men and the median time to the onset of symptoms is two to three days, according to the CDC.

During a panel discussion later Thursday, Dr. Cody Meissner, a member of the committee, said he was “worried” about the heart issue reported in young vaccine recipients.

He questioned whether there will be scarring of the muscular tissue or arrhythmia as a result of the condition.

DETROIT — He plotted to steal up to $1.5 million in union dues, and the money he diverted was spent on golf clubs, vacation homes, booze and lavish meals, fostering a culture of corruption within the United Auto Workers union.

Jones, 64, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Paul Borman in Detroit after pleading guilty to two counts of conspiracy last year. Borman ordered that Jones surrender for his term in 90 days and recommended a low-security federal prison in Seagoville, Texas, so he would be close to his wife who now lives near Dallas.

Federal sentencing guidelines called for Jones to get 46 to 57 months in prison due to his high position in the union.

But prosecutors asked for 28 months because Jones accepted responsibility and cooperated as the government went after his cohorts in a wide-ranging probe of union corruption.

2 FDA committee members resign over Biogen Alzheimer’s drug approval

The agency’s decision, which was met with mixed reviews and marked the first approval of an Alzheimer’s drug in nearly two decades, came after the Peripheral and Central Nervous System Drugs Advisory Committee said in November that it was not reasonable to consider clinical benefit of the drug based on one successful study.

One of the members who resigned, Dr. David Knopman, is a Mayo Clinic neurologist who according to Reuters had been recused from the November meeting because he was an investigator in Biogen’s clinical trials.

“I was very disappointed at how the advisory committee input was treated by the FDA,” Knopman told the outlet. “I don’t wish to be put in a position like this again.”

Policies put in place by then-President Donald Trump reduced the illegal crossings of migrant families and unaccompanied minors by nearly 95 percent in 2020. The Biden Administration reversed many of those policies and migrant families and unaccompanied minors returned to the border in massive numbers.

The apprehension of migrant families along the southwest border in May jumped from 966 in 2020 to 13,906 this year. This represents an increase of 1,340 percent.

Agents apprehended only 979 unaccompanied minors in May 2020. This jumped to 40,078 in May 2021, officials reported. Of those, nearly 21,000 crossed into the Rio Grande Valley Sector in South Texas.

“You are now teaching, training our children to be social justice warriors and to loathe our country and our history.”

She likened CRT, which critics deride as a form of “neo-racism,” to China’s Cultural Revolution, a Mao-led purge that left between 500,000 and 20 million people dead from 1966 to 1976.

She said she witnessed students and teachers “turn against each other” during the pogrom and saw schools change their names “to be politically correct.”

“We were taught to denounce our heritage, and Red Guards destroyed anything that is not communist…statues, books and anything else,” she continued.

“We were also encouraged to report on each other, just like the Student Equity Ambassador program and the bias reporting system.”

“On Having Whiteness,” the apparently peer-reviewed article written by Dr. Donald Moss, a white male and a current faculty member of both the New York Psychoanalytic Institute and the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis discussed, went viral on social media this week once it was discovered.

Moss wrote that “the ravages wreaked by the chronic condition can function either as warning (‘never again’) or as temptation (‘great again’).”

One psychologist, Dr. Philip Pellegrino, commented on the article’s publication, “How do my colleagues consider this scholarship?”

Democratic state Attorney General Rob Bonta filed the appeal, tweeting “weapons of war don’t belong on our streets.”

Announcing the appeal, Bonta said District Judge Roger Benitez’s ruling was “disturbing and troubling and of great concern,” according to CNN.

“We cannot be and we are not deterred by this ruling,” Bonta reportedly said.

Bonta is asking the appeals court to stay Benitez’s ruling which would keep the assault weapons ban in place until the appeals process is complete, according to the report.

Those gun controls are laid out in a 10-point plan which includes requiring licensed gun sellers to video every gun sale and requiring gun owners to purchase liability insurance.

A press release on San Jose’s government website notes that the gun control push also includes an “invite” for “cities throughout California to join San José on an amicus curia brief to support the 9th Circuit appeal of the recent federal district court decision to invalidate California’s three-decade-old ban on assault weapons.”

On June 4, 2021, Breitbart News pointed out that U.S. District Judge Robert T. Benitez ruled against California’s “assault weapons” ban, finding it unconstitutional.

The San Jose government press release admits, “Criminals won’t obey these mandates.”

Exclusive: Louisiana AG Landry Says ‘Bans Against Any Firearms Are Ridiculous’

Landry made his statement in the context of explaining his role in seeking to get the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to defend the Second Amendment by striking down New Jersey’s “high capacity” magazine ban.

Breitbart News brought up the coalition of 24 states which AG Landry is leading in hopes of SCOTUS intervention in New Jersey’s ban.

AG Landry responded by affirming “bans against any firearm are ridiculous. What makes this country, Louisiana included, a great nation, are the rights that have been enshrined in our Bill of Rights. In that owning a firearm and being able to protect your castle are bedrock principles of liberty.”

He asserted that as long as he’s attorney general, “we’re going to work to protect Second Amendment rights.”

Dem infighting reaches new level after Omar calls colleagues’ criticism ‘islamophobic’

“Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided,” the group of Democrats, said of Omar. The signers of the statement included Reps. Brad Schneider, D-Ill.; Brad Sherman, D-Calif.; Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J.; Jake Auchincloss, D-Mass.; and Ted Deutch, D-Fla.

“The United States and Israel are imperfect and, like all democracies, at times deserving of critique, but false equivalencies give cover to terrorist groups. We urge Congresswoman Omar to clarify her words placing the US and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban.”

Omar, D-Minn., responded in a late-night tweet that was among her strongest statements against fellow Democrats yet, accusing them of islamophobia.

The latest episode of intra-party division among Democrats over comments from Omar began during a Monday hearing with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Omar pressed Blinken on his opposition to the International Criminal Court investigating alleged war crimes in both “Palestine and Afghanistan.”

Report: COVID stimulus money favors blue states

Republican members of Congress warned of this bias when the bill was up for debate earlier this year. Now, it appears the data has backed up some of those claims.

“They want to send wheelbarrows of cash to state and local bureaucrats to bail out mismanagement from before the pandemic,” Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in March. “They’re changing the previous bipartisan funding formula in ways that will especially bias the money toward big blue states.”

Others on the right warned of a disproportionate distribution earlier this year. Former President Donald Trump said that the funds reward Democratic leaders in blue states that he says kept their states shut down for too long.

Biden Admin Lifts Sanctions on Iranian Officials and Businesses

Iran has been pressuring the Biden administration to remove nearly all of the sanctions that were applied by the Trump administration.

While senior Biden administration officials initially vowed to keep these sanctions in place until Iran agreed to a stricter nuclear agreement, the administration has moved in recent months to relax pressure to keep Iran at the bargaining table.

Talks in Vienna have largely stalled over Iran’s refusal to roll back portions of its nuclear program.

The Treasury Department confirmed that sanctions would be lifted on these individuals and companies, saying, “These delistings are a result of a verified change in behavior or status on the part of the sanctioned parties and demonstrate the U.S. government’s commitment to lifting sanctions in the event of a change in behavior or status for sanctioned persons.”

The uncorroborated photo purports to show a Chinese aircraft mock-up believed to be the FC-31 fighter jet aboard a concrete mock-up of a Chinese aircraft carrier.

Forbes reported the mock-up fighter jet was photographed at a Chinese facility in Wuhan that is known to builds mock-ups of new ship designs in order to test different sensor layouts.

The facility reportedly has a mock-up of its Type 055 destroyer/cruise as well as a copy of parts of China’s Type 003 aircraft carrier concept.

China’s Type 003 carrier is the first planned aircraft-carrier design to use a catapult aircraft launch system instead of the ski-jump style ramp of its first two aircraft carriers, the Liaoning and the Shandong.

In a news conference, Macron spoke about the “profound transformation” of France’s military operation in Mali and neighboring countries — without giving a timeframe.

France’s Operation Barkhane will formally end, he said, and will be replaced by another mission focused on fighting Islamic extremists that relies more on regional partners.

Details will be unveiled at the end of June, he said, including on the number of troops France is keeping in the region. France now has more than 5,000 troops in the Sahel.

“The final goal is to reduce our multiple military deployments” in the region, he said.

The trip by the new domestically built destroyer Sahand and the intelligence-gathering vessel Makran comes amid U.S. media reports, citing anonymous American officials, saying the ships were bound for Venezuela. The Associated Press could not immediately confirm the ships’ destination.

“The Navy is improving its seafaring capacity and proving its long-term durability in unfavorable seas and the Atlantic’s unfavorable weather conditions,” Sayyari said, adding that the warships would not call at any country’s port during the mission.

During a news conference May 31, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh declined to say where the Makran was going.

“Iran is always present in international waters and it has this right based on international law and it can be present in international waters,” he said. “No country is able to violate this right, and I warn that no one makes miscalculations. Those who sit in glass houses should be careful.
