A staggering 54 per cent of older women living alone are classed as poor under federal poverty standards – and they have insufficient incomes to pay for essential expenses, according to the University of Massachusetts-Boston’s Elder Index.
A total of 45 per cent of older men are facing the same dire situation, the report found.
Based on their yearly incomes, more than two million older couples living in the US were also considered financially insecure, according to data supplied by Jan Mutchler, director of the Gerontology Institute.
This data from 2020 does not take into account the soaring nine per cent inflation or the affect of the coronavirus pandemic on the job market for older Americans – with experts fearing the toll may now be worse on older people.
Juan E. Hernandez-Hernandez and Alejandro Macias-Velazquez were arrested after an investigation into the pair’s connections to a transnational criminal organization that imports bulk quantities of fentanyl pills into Whatcom County, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents working with the sheriff’s office received information that Hernandez-Hernandez arranged for 91,000 fentanyl pills to be delivered in Bellingham, officials said.
Agents casing a parking lot in Bellingham spotted Macias-Velazquez delivering a duffel bag, which was later determined to contain 10 kilograms of fentanyl hidden inside cardboard boxes and potato chip containers, according to authorities.
The New York Police Department released video Sunday morning that showed a man crossing the street in the Bronx when a car took a sharp turn, knocking him into the air, before the occupants allegedly robbed him.
Police are now looking for the suspects, who they say robbed the pedestrian at approximately 6:40 a.m. local time.
Police encouraged anyone with information to notify them via their 800-577-TIPS phone hotline or Twitter.
The video showed a black car cut a corner so sharply that it appeared to go off the road when it collided with the 39-year-old victim, sending him flying into the air. After landing on the ground, he was virtually motionless when an individual could be seen removing items from his person, and later searching his body, even flipping him over onto his back while another person watched.
Summer of Rage, Part I: Militant Pro-Abortion Radicals Flourish in Madison, Wisconsin; Violence ‘Meme’d’ on Twitter
According to data compiled by the Family Research Council, there have been more than 100 attacks against pro-life groups nationwide since the beginning of May, many of which have been attributed to Jane’s Revenge, a far-left militant group that has taken credit for much of the violence.
Jane’s Revenge has garnered support from networks of leftwing activists, particularly those tied to the Madison, Wisconsin area. Just two days before the first Molotov cocktail attack on Wisconsin Family Action on May 8, 2022, the Facebook page of a group called International Workers of the World (IWW) of Madison Wisconsin posted a history of the Jane Collective, the 1960s pro-abortion group from which Jane’s Revenge takes its name.
A radical left-wing blog called Abolition Media has emerged as a clearing house for left-wing threats of violence, has become the go-to for activists associating themselves with Jane’s Revenge. The group has posted dozens of “communiques” since the leak of Justice Samuel Alito’s draft Dobbs opinion.
At least nine of those “communiques” either mention or are attributed to Jane’s Revenge.
Parents Push Back Against Pharma and the FDA and Steer Their Children Far Away from These COVID Jabs
Del Bigtree: “People are waking up. This is such great news. And I feel terrible for those 300,000 kids;
I believe you’ve been abused by your parents from their lack of understanding there. It’s a negligent act. But truthfully, the fact that 98% of the children have avoided this. The parents are waking up. It’s a testament to the moment we now find ourselves in.”
Across the country, we’re in the midst of an unprecedented explosion in homeschooling and alternative education. The main triggers were Covid-19 shutdowns and masking policies.
But parents were already frustrated and revolting — even in some of the most liberal cities — over radical social agendas and poor academic results. Today, we investigate the mass exodus from America’s public schools.
The Australian Vaccine-risks Network (AVN) on July 19 sent an open letter to Dr. Brendan Murphy, secretary of Australia’s Department of Health and Aged Care, voting members of the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation and members of parliament threatening to “move forward with preparations for seeking the intervention of the Federal Court of Australia” if officials don’t respond.
The Canadian COVID Care Alliance (CCCA) on July 14 published an open letter to Canadian health officials stating their members would “be happy to meet you to discuss findings documented in this letter in greater detail.”
Both letters emphasized three arguments against authorizing the mRNA shots in young children and babies:
“CDC’s own data says children have a near statistical zero risk of severe outcome or death, severe illness or death from COVID.” V
accines against COVID-19 are unnecessary for young children, according to Dr. Paul Alexander, who warns that the mRNA vaccines could actually be putting children at further risk due to they way it affects their still-developing immune systems.
Dr. Peter McCullough: “Deaths after vaccination through December of 2021 … 187,000 Americans may have died due to the vaccine. Remember, in Vietnam, we only lost 58,000.”
The woman was dropped off at the airport at about 11 a.m., walked inside near the ticketing counters and then entered a bathroom, Dallas police Chief Eddie Garcia said at a news conference.
She emerged wearing a hooded sweatshirt or some other clothing that she hadn’t arrived in, pulled a gun and fired several shots, apparently at the ceiling, he said.
“At this point, we don’t know where exactly the individual was aiming,” Garcia said.
An officer who was nearby shot the woman in her “lower extremities,” wounding her and enabling her to be taken into custody, Garcia said. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Illegal immigrant ‘gotaways’ crossing US-Mexico border number more than half a million, DHS sources say
Multiple senior Department of Homeland Security sources told Fox News of the rising number of known gotaways – illegal immigrants who are spotted crossing the border but are never caught – with three months remaining in FY’22.
That number has already eclipsed the 389,155 known gotaways that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas previosuly testified there were in all of FY’21.
There have been approximately 900,000 known gotaways since the beginning of FY’21, per the sources, which is equivalent to a population bigger than the city of San Francisco sneaking across the border without apprehension.
The surging numbers at the border come after the Biden administration has repeatedly claimed the border is “closed,” “secure” and under “operational control.”
Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, says the border is not secure after he met with law enforcement officials in El Paso, Texas
Migrants are dying in greater numbers as they illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border. Some suffocate in unventilated trucks, others fall attempting to scale barriers, and many perish from dehydration in the Arizona desert. Zachary Goelman produced this report.
The Minnesota Army National Guard paid tens of thousands of dollars to advertise in an LGBT publication that has promoted transgenderism and “queer” identities among children.
The National Guard is not the only military organization to promote transgenderism under the Biden administration.
Republican senators found that the military has subjected service members to nearly six million hours of diversity, equity, and inclusion training.
The Army this year coached officers on “when to offer soldiers gender transition surgery,” while the Navy in May published a video that instructs sailors on “proper gender pronouns,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.
After combat veterans criticized what they consider the military’s “woke” posturing, left-wing pundits called them racists.

Eric Swalwell’s campaign continues luxury spending, including at upscale Paris hotels and restaurants
The California Democrat’s campaign has consistently dropped cash into high-end items, such as limousine services, flights and posh accommodations. His latest filings show the trend has spilled over into this year’s second quarter.
Swalwell’s campaign, comprised of just two paid staffers, reported spending nearly $38,000 on travel expenses between May 19 and June 30, including $3,538.94 in late May for catering for a fundraising event at France’s “iconic” Ritz Paris, a posh hotel that features several upscale bars and reservation rooms.
Outside the swanky hotels that are nowhere near his district, the highest expenditure on his pre-primary report came from United Airlines, where Swalwell’s campaign reported $13,312 on flights. His committee also spent $7,815 on American Airlines flights and nearly $1,300 on Alaska Airlines tickets.
The Cadillac congressman also appeared to continue his luxury limo kick, spending nearly $6,000 on such services, according to the disclosures. Those filings show that Swalwell’s committee spent more on travel in six weeks than on “communications consulting” and “fundraising services” combined.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Governors Association tried to purchase joint ads on abortion and guns on the platform earlier this month, but the ads never ran on the streaming service, the Washington Post reported.
The DSCC shared the ads in question on Twitter, claiming Hulu was censoring them.
As a streaming service, Hulu is not required by the Communications Act of 1934 to abide by the same requirements as broadcast networks, which must provide politicians equal access to political advertising. The same ads did run on an ABC affiliate in Philadelphia and on ESPN, both under the Disney umbrella.
A person familiar with Hulu’s policies told the Washington Post the company does not publicly disclose its advertising criteria but that it prohibits advertising that takes a position on a controversial topic, political or otherwise.
Whitmer vetoes $20M in pro-life adoption funding; rips crisis pregnancy centers as ‘fake health clinics’
Her vetoes included $10 million for a marketing program promoting adoption over abortion, $3 million for organizations that promote “childbirth and alternatives to abortion,” and $100,000 designated for the legal defense of a ban on gender reassignment surgeries or therapies while people are in state prisons.
In a statement regarding the new budget last week, state Rep. Thomas Albert, a Republican from Lowell who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, said Whitmer’s vetoes rejecting pro-life funding “support only one option for women in a crisis pregnancy — the deadly choice of abortion.”
“As good as this budget is, it should have been even better,” Albert said. “Whitmer inexplicably rejected more than $20 million to promote adoption and help women facing a crisis pregnancy. To be clear – this funding was not about access to abortion. It’s about helping women in need and actually sustaining life, and I am profoundly disappointed that the governor would veto this assistance.”

Mark Kelly Raked In Cash From Corporate-Backed PACs Despite Pledging To Refuse ‘Corporate PAC Money’
Kelly has repeatedly emphasized he does not and will not “take a dime of corporate PAC money.” Despite that pledge, the former astronaut’s campaign has raked in roughly $154,000 from Democratic PACs since March 2019 that have hauled in large sums from PACs for corporations, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show.
Kelly has also notably raked in $31,350 from Frontline USA since May 2020, filings show. Frontline USA, a leadership PAC associated with Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff, has received $112,500 from corporate PACs for Raytheon, Boeing, Comcast, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman since 2010, records show.
Nevertheless, the senator has tweeted about not accepting “corporate PAC” money a total of 45 times between Feb. 12, 2019, and July 18, 2022, according to a DCNF review of Kelly’s Twitter account history.
“I don’t give a rip what President Biden does with the WHO … The state and the people in those states and the Sheriffs within those counties within those states can look at the WHO and say, ‘Who do you think you are? Get out now! You have no business, no authority in our states.'”

South Korean Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup briefed President Yoon Suk-yeol on plans for the joint exercises Friday.
Yoon, a conservative who took office in May, has signaled a change in policy toward North Korea from liberal predecessor Moon Jae-in, who favored reconciliation with Pyongyang. For Yoon, the first military exercises during his administration present a chance to reaffirm South Korea’s alliance with the U.S.
North Korea has test-fired at least 28 ballistic missiles so far in 2022, breaking the previous full-year record. It is also developing trajectory-shifting missiles, as well as launch systems capable of firing different types of missiles at the same time.
There is evidence that North Korea will soon conduct its seventh nuclear weapons test.

Last week, according to Russian media outlets, a chess-playing robot, apparently unsettled by the quick responses of a seven-year-old boy, unceremoniously grabbed and broke his finger during a match at the Moscow Open.
“The robot broke the child’s finger,” Sergey Lazarev, president of the Moscow Chess Federation, told the TASS news agency after the incident, adding that the machine had played many previous exhibitions without upset. “This is of course bad.”
Video of the 19 July incident published by the Baza Telegram channel shows the boy’s finger being pinched by the robotic arm for several seconds before a woman followed by three men rush in, free him and usher him away.
