“A woman from Hawaii said United Airlines gave a standby customer the nearly $1,000 seat she purchased for her young son, forcing her to hold the boy on her lap during a three-hour flight.

“Emily France, the mother whose 4-month-old son overheated on a United Airlines flight June 22 in Denver, said she does not want other mothers and babies to endure a lengthy delay in a hot cabin after her baby had to be rushed by ambulance to an emergency room.

Her attorney, David Rapoport of Chicago, said he hopes the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board get involved, and that he would be prepared to file a lawsuit on France’s behalf if United Airlines doesn’t prove reasonable and fair in its response to France’s complaints.

“Cabin safety for infants and everyone else is part of an airline’s job,” Rapoport said in a statement to The Denver Post. “Airlines owe their passengers the highest duty of care under federal and state law. Infant safety is part of that duty, and the airline here failed everyone aboard that overheated flight.” Article and video here.> Colorado mom of infant who overheated on United flight has retained an attorney

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CN) – “Over objections from sheriffs’ unions and the California Police Chiefs Association, the California Assembly Judiciary Committee took a step forward in making the Golden State a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants.

State Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Leon, D-Los Angeles, said his measure, Senate Bill 54 or the “California Values Act,” is intended to prevent state and local law enforcement from cooperating with what he calls the “Trump Deportation Machine.”

Opponents call it a “sanctuary state measure” that goes against federal immigration law and obstructs the ability of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to do their job.” More here.> California Closer to Creating Sanctuary State

“Disused military tunnels snake beneath the crater of Diamond Head, out of sight of the tourists lounging near the volcano on Waikiki Beach but very much on the mind of Gene Ward, a state representative from Honolulu.

Alarmed by North Korea’s latest missile tests and claims that its newly developed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) can carry a large nuclear warhead, Ward believes it is time to refurbish the tunnels as civilian shelters in case of a North Korean attack.

“We’ve had wake-up calls before but what happened on July 3 is shaking us out of bed,” said Ward, referring to Pyongyang’s latest missile test.” More here.> Hawaii, Alaska contemplate coming into North Korean missile range

Police clash with G-20 protesters in Germany

“Hardcore anti-capitalist protesters have been hit with water cannons and pepper spray by German riot police after they attacked officers with bottles and stones at the G20 summit in Hamburg.

Police say they repeatedly asked a group of demonstrators to remove their masks and hoods but instead officers were hit with bottles and bricks – breaking the window of a riot van.

The violence broke out near the start of the demonstration at a riverside plaza used for Hamburg’s weekly fish market.

As many as 100,000 protesters from across Europe are pouring into the port city for a demonstration dubbed ‘Welcome To Hell’. Police believe as many as 8,000 are ready to commit violence.” More here.> German police fire water cannon and pepper spray at black-clad bottle-hurling demonstrators after Porsche dealership is torched

Military As Social Engineering, Not National Defense.
“The force-wide presentation sheds quite a bit of light on the implications of the rule change on transgender service members. The policy prioritizes subjective feelings over combat-readiness and inverts military order by placing the needs of individuals over the well-being of their units.”

“On June 30, hours before the policy took effect, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis postponedthe opening of military enlistments to transgender people for an additional six months. The delay does not prevent currently serving soldiers from transitioning, however. It is intended to give the joint chiefs more time to review and mitigate the Obama-era rule’s impact on the “readiness and lethality of our [armed] forces.”

Late into President Obama’s last term, his military officials allowed transgender soldiers to serve openly, even funding gender-change surgeries with taxpayer dollars. Former Defense Secretary Ash Carter set a July 1 deadline for all four military branches to write policies for accepting openly transgender enlistments. Formerly, soldiers exhibiting gender dysphoria were automatically discharged.

While the Pentagon’s review takes place behind closed doors and the inevitable culture-war volleys spill into the public square, it is critical to understand the real-life implications of the policy shift. I recently received a copy of the new “Tier Three Transgender Training” materials—a PowerPoint and accompanying lesson planexcerpted below, with full documents at these links—that the Army is now using in mandatory training for all soldiers. The active-duty officer who sent the materials completed the training with 40 other soldiers last week instead of conducting their morning physical training as usual.” More here.> New Army Training Tells Female Soldiers To ‘Accept’ Naked Men In Their Showers

“If you want to know why Donald Trump will go down in history as a great president, listen to (or read, when it is available) his speech in Krasinski Square, Warsaw today.

Yes, there is a lot of the usual diplomatic persiflage: “Thank you, President Duda. Thank you, Poland.” But be an adult and distinguish the gem from the setting. While the anti-Trump press was busy running stories warning about “unease in Brussels” over Trump’s visit to Poland, Trump once again totally outflanked his critics.  Those who have ears, let them hear:” More here.> Trump’s Warsaw Uprising
