In The News:

FBI fires Peter Strzok, months after anti-Trump texts revealed

FBI official Peter Strzok, who played a lead role in both the Russian meddling and Hillary Clinton email probes but became a political lightning rod after the revelation of anti-Trump text messages, has been fired.

Strzok attorney Aitan Goelman said in a statement Monday that his client, a 21-year FBI veteran, was fired Friday afternoon, claiming this was a departure from standard practice and politically motivated. Goelman said bureau Deputy Director David Bowdich “overruled” the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

Antifa’s violent confrontations with police, journalists mar otherwise peaceful rally counterprotesters

Members of Antifa were seen launching eggs, fireworks and water bottles at police officers and the Secret Service, beating people in the street and threatening members of the media during the uber-left, so-called anti-fascist group’s counter-protest of rightwing rallies this weekend in Washington, D.C. and Virginia.

The rallies, which drew about 40 alt-right or pro-white nationalist demonstrators to Charlottesville, occurred to mark the one-year anniversary of the violence in that Virginia city that left one woman dead. An event was also held in Washington, D.C., which attracted about 150-200 Antifa members, many wearing black masks.

One year ago, President Trump told the American people that there was “violence on both sides” during the Charlottesville riots.

Those riots pitted neo-Nazis marching in the city against Antifa and other progressive groups. The powder keg was lit and both sides committed acts of violence against each other. The riots left many injured and one activist lost her life when awhite supremacists rammed his car into a crowd. Trump was attacked for the “both sides” comment in the wake of the violence.

However, in the year since, the Left’s violent tactics have been on full display in multiple arenas across the country. Riots and death threats have targeted Trump officials, ICE agents, police officers and children. A former Bernie Sanders staffer opened fire on a group of Republican congressmen practicing baseball, seriously wounding House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

The News Media Bet On Trump Emboldening White Supremacy And Lost

The going narrative in our newspapers and cable news shows is that the Trump presidency has emboldened white supremacists, that they are no longer ashamed. After all, the president is winking at them. There were probably 20 journalists for every white nationalist at yesterday’s event precisely because the news media was testing its hypothesis.

Whether the news media devoted too much coverage to these 20 people begging for attention was a close call. Those against it can rightfully say that Kessler did nothing to earn the megaphone outlets like NPR gave him, that news outlets are intentionally overblowing the threat because they want to hurt Trump, or even that gasoline was being poured on a cultural fire.

Police, Sessions slam Elizabeth Warren for calling criminal justice system ‘racist’

Top police officials in Massachusetts have accused Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of insulting rank-and-file officers when she said the criminal justice system was “racist … front to back” earlier this month.

Warren made the remarks Aug. 3 at Dillard University, a historically black college. She cited disproportionate arrests of African-Americans for petty drug possession; an overloaded public defender system; and state laws barring convicted felons from voting after their sentences are complete.

In response, Yarmouth Police Chief Frank Frederickson called Warren’s comments “an insult to the hard working men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department, as well as other Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies who are part of the criminal justice system.”

Former Gun Control Candidate Charged With Shooting Her Campaign Treasurer

Kellie Collins, a former congressional candidate in Georgia’s 10th District, was charged with the murder of her former campaign treasurer, Curtis Cain. The allegations of murder follow Collins’ advocacy for “responsible” gun control laws during her campaign. WSB-TV reports that she argued for stricter legislation “to protect the community.”Opera

Police found Cain’s body in Collins’s apartment with a gunshot wound. Cain did not come in to work last Tuesday, prompting deputies to check in on him. Police estimated that he was dead for roughly a week.

Scot-free: DOJ employee who harassed DHS secretary skates on punishment

“The tweets we reviewed from June 19 and 20, which Ms. Hrabar posted while at work, only stated her views on immigration policy. Therefore, we have concluded that Ms. Hrabar did not violate the Hatch Act, and we are closing this matter without further action,” Ms. Galindo-Marrone said in a letter to Ty Clevenger, a lawyer who had asked for a probe.

Ms. Hrabar was part of the group of members of the Democratic Socialists of America who rushed to protest inside a Mexican restaurant in June after learning that Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was eating there.

De Blasio lets security haul away Post reporter for asking question

Just two hours later, after de Blasio cut a ribbon to kick off the parade and was posing for photos near West 37th Street and Sixth Avenue, the reporter asked him to comment on the “CITY FOR SALE” Page One story.

Instead of answering or even declining to answer the question, the mayor watched as two members of his NYPD security detail approached the reporter — who was wearing a police-issued press pass around his neck — with one grabbing his shoulder and leading him away from the mayor.

Shooter in fatal Florida ‘Stand Your Ground’ case arrested for manslaughter

A Florida man was arrested on a prosecutor’s warrant Monday in connection with a fatal shooting last month that a sheriff said was justified under the state’s “Stand Your Ground” self-defense law.

Michael Drejka, 47, was charged with manslaughter in the July 19 death of 23-year-old Markeis McGlockton during a dispute over a handicapped parking spot at a convenience store in Clearwater.Opera

The shooting, which was caught on video, reignited debate around the “Stand Your Ground” law and led to demonstrations by protestors who criticized Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gulatieri for not arresting Drejka, a white man who shot and killed an unarmed black man.

Man dies after intentionally flying plane into his own home – that had wife, son inside, police say

A pilot who was killed after crashing a plane into a Utah home he owned Monday morning was arrested on a domestic violence charge hours before he piloted the aircraft into the building where his wife and adult son were staying, police said.

Officials said it appeared the man, identified by relatives as Duane Youd, crashed the plane intentionally, according to FOX13 Salt Lake City.

Smuggler Busted with Nearly 80 Migrants Locked in Refrigerated Trailer

Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 35 checkpoint observed a refrigerated tractor-trailer approaching for inspection on August 11. While agents questioned the driver and his passenger about their citizenship status, a K-9 agent alerted to the possible presence of drug or human cargo in the truck’s trailer, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from Laredo Sector officials.

Politics/Deep State/Russia:

More Democrats have a positive view of socialism than of capitalism: Poll

More Democrats view socialism favorably compared to capitalism for the first time in almost a decade, according to a new Gallup poll released Monday.

But the survey’s finding that a healthy majority of Democrats have a positive image of socialism doesn’t reflect a recent groundswell of support for 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders or 2018 New York Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who both identify as democratic socialists. Instead the research demonstrates a drastic shift in how Democrats perceive capitalism.

The poll found only 47 percent of Democrats see capitalism in a positive light, down nine percentage points since 2016. Meanwhile, attitudes toward socialism are up only slightly from 2010.

JORDAN: Bruce Ohr Holds Key to Many Answers in Trump-Russia Investigation

The montage of documents, emails, texts and phone records obtained by congressional oversight committees from twice-demoted Department of Justice Associate Attorney General Bruce Ohr reveal his close relationship with foreign spy, Christopher Steele.

The information also reveals that the FBI used that same spy (even after they fired him) to continue to collect unverified information in an effort to obtain a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.

According to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Ohr may hold the key to unraveling a good portion of “who was involved and what actually took place” in the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation.

Bruce and Nellie Ohr

Bruce Ohr, the former Associate Deputy Attorney General who served as the fourth-highest ranking official in the Justice Department, will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on August 28th, 2018, to answer questions regarding his connections to anti-Trump dossier author Christopher Steele and Fusion GPS.

According to Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., Ohr had over sixty contacts with Christopher Steele going as far back as January of 2016.

‘Give Up Your Phony Investigation’: Pirro Rips Mueller After Reports of Ohr, Steele Meetings

In her Opening Statement, Judge Jeanine Pirro said that she actually wants the special counsel’s Russia probe to go on.

However, Pirro said, that’s because it will each day prove of collusion between Russia and former President Obama’s administration.

“The truth is, every day we get to watch the evidence of the framing of Donald Trump exposed.”

Minnesota: Establishment media blacks out evidence of Muslim Congressional candidate’s perjury

According to CNN, 100 or more newspapers will publish editorials attacking President Trump on August 16.

Meanwhile, Minnesota’s largest newspapers — along with every other mainstream outlet in the country — just whiffed on covering this: Signed, notarized court documents and time-stamped photos showing the Democratic frontrunner for Minnesota’s highest-profile House seat appearing to commit perjury.

The common newsroom explanation, often valid, for having passed on a particular story — “we couldn’t independently verify it” — simply does not apply here. The evidence, reposted below, against Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-60B) consists of nothing but certified court filings and archived social media posts.

Watch: Palestinian-American Congressional Candidate Forcibly Grabs Jewish Conservative Journalist

Soon-to-be-congresswoman Rashida Tlaib might have been born in America, but she clearly doesn’t understand freedom of the press. At a campaign event for Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar (D), Tlaib forcibly grabbed the phone of Jewish conservative journalist Laura Loomer and attempted to wrestle it from her grip as Loomer grilled Tlaib and Omar about their affiliation with terrorist organizations.

Loomer uploaded footage of the confrontation on Twitter. In the video, Tlaib refuses to answer when Loomer asks whether she was willing to admit that Palestinian Sunni-Islamist fundamentalist organization Hamas is a terrorist organization.

Tlaib and Omar are both endorsed by pro-Hamas activist Linda Sarsour, as well as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is designated as a terrorist organization in the United Arab Emirates.

Liberal Women’s Group: Ellison Must Resign, Drop Out Of AG Race Following Domestic Abuse Allegations

A liberal-leaning women’s group is calling on Democratic Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison to resign from Congress and end his attorney general campaign following allegations that he physically abused his ex-girlfriend.

“We believe women. We believe Karen Monahan,” UltraViolet executive director Shaunna Thomas said in a statement Monday. “A domestic abuser does not belong in any position of power but particularly not as the top prosecutor in the State.”

Google’s Targeted Ads Are Coming to a Billboard Near You

Google may be about to pair all that data it has on users’ web browsing with the ads displayed on public billboards. Creepy? Maybe. Inevitable? Almost certainly.

The Alphabet Inc. unit is in talks in Germany about pushing into out-of-home advertising – billboards in stations, shopping centers and shop windows – according to WirtschaftsWoche. The move would be a precursor to similar expansion in the U.S. and the U.K., the magazine said.

AP Exclusive: Google tracks your movements, like it or not

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google wants to know where you go so badly that it records your movements even when you explicitly tell it not to.

An Associated Press investigation found that many Google services on Android devices and iPhones store your location data even if you’ve used a privacy setting that says it will prevent Google from doing so.

Computer-science researchers at Princeton confirmed these findings at the AP’s request.

Google Woos Partners for Potential China Expansion

Mr. Li is one of many allies Google has courted in recent years as it tries to keep a foothold in China, a market from which the Alphabet Inc. unit retreated eight years ago in protest over government hacking and censorship.

While its core services like search, Gmail and YouTube remain blocked for most Chinese citizens, the company provides tools and support to a growing number of app developers, manufacturers and advertisers in the region, who rely on Google to reach global customers.

Now those allies will likely be crucial as Google embarks on a broader China expansion strategy, according to a number of people either involved in the effort or watching it closely. As part of a project dubbed “Dragonfly,” Google is testing a mobile version of its search engine that would adhere to China’s strict censors, people familiar with the matter said.

To convince the Chinese government to allow such a move, Google can point to its local partners as examples of how the company contributes to economic growth. That is in contrast to rival Facebook Inc., which also covets the China market but has had less success establishing a beachhead.

Forget 1984, Its 2018

In the twilight of his life, John Adams would say that the American Revolution began long before the first shot was fired. It was in the hearts and minds of the people that the revolution began, and these were won through argumentation, through discourse.

The United States is unique in this sense—our nation was born through rhetoric and dialectic, reason was the breath that gave it life. The Founders had to give compelling reasons for their cause, and so they did.

Herein lies the exigency behind leftist censorship tactics: Their view of the world is fundamentally unreasonable. The moment it is exposed to light, it turns to ash. The Left cannot defend what they claim to be true, so they must bury the opposition in silence.

The fact is, there is one set of rules for the Left and a different set of rules the rest of America that sits to the right of our tech overlords. It should be no surprise that, as the Left promised, censorship is being weaponized against the Right. Yes, they told us this was coming.

A Winning President is Better Than a Presidential President

Reading the classic texts makes one marvel at how crafty and ambitious men, like the Persian emperor Cyrus the Younger, deployed breathtaking ingenuity to take power; in Cyrus’s case, even altering the political structure of his empire.

Today scholars tend to assume that those wild days are long behind us because the American Constitution established a stable, well-regulated, and predictable system—which is almost always what we want. Almost.

Sometimes, however, the system gets gummed up and needs someone a bit reckless and a bit crazy to kick things loose. This is where Trump’s natural instincts as a clever political animal have proven to be a kind of divine dispensation.

Historians can debate whether Trump is indeed a genius playing 3D chess, or instead just a very lucky blowhard who lurches from one victory to the next. But it’s hard not be impressed by three really daring strategies that represent what Machiavelli might have called “new modes and orders” in American politics.

These original and unorthodox techniques could not have been pulled off—indeed would never have been conceived—by any of the more conventional candidates. In Trump-like fashion we can use three bold, exclamatory phrases to describe these strategies:

Trump is willing to be unpresidential to win. He is willing to use what Machiavelli called the beastly arts—the virtues of the lion and especially the fox, which is expert in spotting traps. By implication, this includes setting traps—one of Trump’s great gifts. A politician who uses the way of the fox is willing to “stoop to conquer.”

Again, this makes him unique among Republicans, who generally care more about themselves—their meretricious dignity and prestige—than they do about their country. But a winning president is better than a presidential president. That’s one lesson his rivals still don’t understand.

The Omarosa News Cycle Is Everything That’s Wrong With Media Coverage Of Trump

The news cycle surrounding ousted White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman is emblematic of everything that is wrong with the news media’s coverage of the Trump administration.

It’s clear to absolutely everyone that Omarosa has no substantive analysis of her tenure at the White House beyond what she’s already shared on “Celebrity Big Brother” earlier this year where she tried to portray herself as a victim.

Up till the moment she was reportedly dragged from the White House following her firing, she was all about President Trump and played his surrogate on TV all throughout the 2016 election. But the second the president couldn’t make her famous anymore, she went on the attack.

Here’s a montage of her whining about how America is doomed at the hands of Trump mashed up with footage of her gleefully declaring a year earlier that everyone who criticized Trump was going to have to eat crow.
