PICTURED: Boy, 13, who killed himself on first day back at school after being targeted again by relentless bullies –
The young boy who took his own life as he started school in North Carolina on Tuesday has been identified, as his heartbroken mother revealed he had been bullied for years and urged her fellow parents to teach their children to be kind.
Austin Pendergrass, 13, took his own life in a bathroom at Wendell Middle School on Tuesday on his first day of eighth-grade.
He was found dead by two students, prompting school officials to send everyone home, claiming there was a ‘medical crisis.’
Pendergrass’ family has now confirmed he died of suicide after years of bullying.
‘It was so bad last year with kids just taunting him, hurting him,’ family friend Jalia Harris said in a video taken at a vigil Wednesday night.
He was able to enjoy the summer, his mom told WRAL, but as soon as he went back to school on Tuesday, the bullying started again.
Oberlin College had tried to appeal the case to the Ohio Supreme Court, which announced on August 30 it would not take up the issue.
Finally, in a statement on Thursday, the college announced it ‘has initiated payment in full of the $36.59 million judgment in the Gibson’s Bakery case and is awaiting payment information from the plaintiffs.
‘This amount represents awarded damages and accumulated interest, and therefore no further payments are required.’
The statement continued to say that while school officials are ‘disappointed by the Court’s decision… We hope that the end of the litigation will begin the healing of our entire community.’
Health authorities have noted that, where data are available, the overwhelming majority of cases of monkeypox have arisen among gay men and the slightly larger overall demographic of “men who have sex with men.”
The most recent California Department of Public Health data, for instance, indicates that 97% of cases are made up of men, and 94% of those are either gay or bisexual men.
Data out of Los Angeles County, meanwhile, lists 98% of cases there as being among men, with just 4% of cases identifying as heterosexual.
Daskalakis conceded that public health messaging should give some weight to the prevalence of the virus within the gay male community.
The biggest change in the amended plan was the removal of a $250m settlement payment from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which Silverstein refused to approve.
Silverstein said that part of that settlement proposal went too far in attempting to protect the Mormon church from abuse claims that were only loosely connected to scouting activities.
The Irving, Texas-based organization, has said the reorganization will allow it to continue its scouting mission free from the threat of costly litigation.
Concealed-carry hero takes out shooter who seriously wounded him, killed two at party: ‘If I didn’t have my gun, everyone in the house would have died’
A bullet tore through Raul Mendez’s left eye amid a deadly rampage at a Fourth of July party in Arizona this summer, covering his face with blood and rendering him unconscious.
But Mendez told Fox News that with God’s help, he soon opened his eyes amid screaming from other partygoers — and then he got up, pulled out his concealed handgun, and fatally shot the suspect before he could kill or wound any more people.
“If I didn’t have my gun, everyone in the house would have died,” Mendez said in a National Rifle Association video about the incident. “The news vans would’ve been front and center. But because I did, you never even heard about it.”

The Republican attorneys generals expressed skepticism concerning McCombe’s claims that BlackRock remains neutral on the use of fossil fuels and assurances that BlackRock does not place its climate agenda over its duties to its clients. The attorneys general asserted that McCombe’s guarantees are in conflict with BlackRock’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
“Every company and every industry will be transformed by the transition to a net zero world,” BlackRock CEO Larry Fink stated in a 2022 letter to CEOs. “The question is, will you lead, or will you be led?”
BlackRock’s move to clarify its investment strategies and climate agenda comes amid a recent crackdown on ESG investing in Republican-run states. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida banned state fund managers from considering ESG standards when managing state funds on Aug. 23.
Texas also declared in August that BlackRock boycotts the fossil fuel industry and moved to remove state pension funds, worth billions of dollars, from the company’s management, according to The Financial Times.
Over the course of one week, Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico and Andrade ports of entry in San Diego stopped seven different drug trafficking attempts.
The total worth of the intercepted substances is approximately $3 million.
Separately, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol captured seven gang members and two sex offenders in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, and apprehended a migrant previously convicted of assaulting a minor.
The massive haul of narcotics, mostly methamphetamine and fentanyl, weighed a combined 825 pounds.
From Aug. 20 to 27, CBP agents seized 656 packages of meth and fentanyl. Authorities caught attempted drug traffickers via visual inspections, canine screening and the ports’ imaging systems.
The drug bust happened on Aug. 19 in San Antonio after an organized crime task force executed a search warrant in the 5000 block of Beryl Cove, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said.
During the raid, the sheriff’s office said that deputies spotted a woman, later identified as 28-year-old Sahara Martin, fleeing from the back of the residence and throwing two large bags over the fence.
Inside the residence, authorities said they located 45-year-old Jody Martinez, whom they described as an active gang member, along with large quantities of drugs, two handguns and a stolen motorcycle.
FBI says New York migrant gang MS-13 trying to ‘rebuild’ after indictment update for string of machete murders
In federal court in Central Islip, a 29-count superseding indictment was unsealed charging eight members and associates of the violent transnational criminal organization Mara Salvatrucha, known as the “MS-13,” with multiple racketeering offenses, including predicate racketeering acts involving murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and related narcotics and firearms offenses.
The murders included the shooting of a 27-year-old suspected rival Bloods gang member Marcus Bohannon on a street in Central Islip in 2016.
The superseding indictment cites brutal separate 2016 machete hacking deaths of suspected rival 18th Street gang members Kerin Pineda and Javier Castillo allegedly each lured into the woods or isolated marsh areas before being fatally slashed by a group of MS-13 members lying in wait who then buried the bodies in holes.

The U.S. will provide a total of $2 billion in additional military funding for Ukraine and 18 other European countries deemed to face threats from Russia, President Biden’s administration announced Thursday.
The package will focus on long-term military support rather than the ammunition and equipment included in past aid packages, the administration says. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the announcement Thursday morning, just minutes after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a separate $675 million package of military equipment for Ukraine.
Austin is in Germany meeting with the Ukraine Defense Contact Group throughout Thursday. That package includes more traditional military aid, including artillery munitions, Humvees and armored ambulances, among other things.

A Fox News Digital investigation found that the ADL — which was originally founded more than 100 years ago to combat the anti-Semitic defamation of American Jews — included concepts from critical race theory (CRT) as well as far-left ideas within its education wing.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, an ADL spokesperson stated that they don’t teach critical race theory but admitted how some of their curriculum materials are “misaligned” with their values:
The reach of the ADL’s education wing is expansive. According to the ADL’s website, in 2021, more than 46,000 educators participated in its anti-bias training and 4.8 million K-12 students were reached through its education tools and programs.
Districts around the country pay the ADL’s World of a Difference Institute Training Program tens of thousands of dollars for its anti-bias training. The information from this article was found in the ADL Education’s lesson plans, which are available online for teachers to voluntarily use.

LGBTQ month canceled in Miami-Dade schools, board will ‘follow the law,” enacted by GOP Gov DeSantis
The Miami-Dade County Public Schools board has voted against a proposal to observe October as LGBTQ History Month, following the state’s recently enacted Parental Rights in Education law that prohibiting K through third-grade teachers giving lessons on “sexual orientation” or “gender identity.”
The measure – which critics and others frequently refer to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill – was signed into law in March by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The board voted 8-1 on Wednesday to have schools not observe the history month. The only vote in support of the proposal came from sponsor Lucia Baez-Geller, NBC Miami reported.

The club, aimed at students as young as transitional kindergarten and their “loved ones,” is offered district wide with a virtual option available.
The club meets each week for an hour over a 10-week period, the website stated. For 15 minutes before each meeting, parents and “other interested adults” are allowed to come ask questions about the group.

The emails underscore the extent to which Hunter was willing to use his political connections to aid his business associates in their pursuit of business in China.
James Bulger, the namesake nephew of Boston crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger, asked Hunter in an email on July 22, 2014, to introduce his business partners to Tung Chee-hwa, a billionaire and first chief executive of Hong Kong who was serving as the vice-chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in 2014.
The CPPCC is the “key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation” under the leadership of the CCP, according to the CPPCC website.
“It is my understanding that during the trip to Beijing that you made with your father, President Xi hosted a welcome dinner,” Bulger wrote. “[A]t that dinner, you were seated right next to Mr Tung, therefore J and Andy believe it would be very helpful if you could please send a brief email to Mr Tung laying out that you are a partner and Board Member of BHR and that You would be grateful to Mr Tung if he could meet your local partners to discuss the Fund.”
“Please let me know if you can introduce these two to Mr Tung by email it is very important to our BHR intiative [sic] at this moment,” Bulger stressed.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell thinks Democrats should stop splurging Americans’ tax dollars on policies that don’t help with problems such as the U.S.-Mexico border, but it is McConnell who needs to stop pretending he’s powerless to curb the southern border crisis while funneling billions to Ukraine.
McConnell is not ignorant about the unmitigated calamity that is the U.S.-Mexico border, nor is he unaware of how that is affecting the entire nation.
He even mentioned in his speech that it’s President Joe Biden’s “failed border policies” that “have Customs and Border Protection encountering 200 percent more fentanyl and apprehending the most illegal immigrants they’ve seen in more than 20 years.”
As the GOP leader put it in his recent speech, “Americans may want their leaders to cut inflation, fight crime and drugs, and secure the border, but Democrats just spent hundreds of billions of dollars of the people’s money doing precisely none of that.”
You know who else is wasting billions of dollars of the people’s money on causes other than securing America’s borders?

Biden admin finalizes rule to ignore immigrants’ use of SNAP, Medicaid when considering green card requests
The rule, which will go into effect in December, will codify guidance put in place during the Clinton administration and would depart significantly from a now-reversed Trump-era rule issued in 2019 that significantly expanded the forms of welfare that would mark an immigrant as a “public charge.”
The Biden rule would mean that green card applicants would only be considered a public charge “if they are likely at any time to become primarily dependent on the government” for help. Reliance on Supplemental Security Income (SSI), cash assistance under Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and state, tribal and local cash assistance for income maintenance would still be considered when making that assessment.
However, immigrants would be able to receive benefits that were ruled out by the Trump-era rule, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or food stamps, housing vouchers and Medicaid benefits. The Trump rule, which is no longer in effect, defined “public charge” as an immigrant who receives one or more designated public benefits for more than 12 months within a 36-month period.
