Clint Eastwood defies Hollywood boycott of filming in Georgia

The 89-year-old actor and director will begin production of The Ballad of Richard Jewell, a movie about Richard Jewell, the security guard who discovered bombs at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Jewell was accused of the attacks, which killed one and injured more than 100, although he was exonerated when police found the true suspect, anti-abortion terrorist Eric Rudolph.

In March, more than 40 celebrities signed a letter to Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp telling him that they would not work in the state if the heartbeat abortion bill became law.

Kemp signed the legislation in May.

Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”

Beth was first diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer in November 2017. She underwent successful surgery, but doctors months later told her the cancer had returned.

Although she began chemotherapy in December 2018, Duane told Us Weekly at the time that she wanted to explore alternative therapies instead.

Trump, whose Twitter activity indicates he was visiting Trump Hotel Chicago, shared a statement with Breitbart News following the incident, condemning it “purely a disgusting act by somebody who clearly has emotional problems.”

He also suggested the employee’s motivations were political, saying, “For a party that preaches tolerance, this once again demonstrates they have very little civility.”

Chicago officer in critical condition after being shot, police commissioner decries gun violence

The 25-year-old off-duty officer — who has not yet been identified — was driving past an elementary school in the city’s South Side just before 2 a.m. when someone in a black Toyota fired about 20 shots, striking him in the head with at least one, police say.

“I first want to ask you all for your prayers for this officer, who has been a Chicago police officer for just two years,” Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Wednesday during a press conference.

The officer was driving with a female companion when they realized the black Toyota was following them, police said.

The woman called 911, and seconds later, the shots were fired. She was not injured. Officers who were conducting a traffic stop nearby responded to the scene after hearing the gunfire.

Officers were searching for Slaton after receiving a disturbance call involving a person with an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant.

When they spotted the 20-year-old, officers briefly pursued him on foot, and body camera footage showed an object in Slaton’s hand which appeared to be a handgun.

Templet had told police his father was drunk and woke him up around 3 a.m.; the teenager locked himself in his father’s bedroom with two handguns, according to an arrest report obtained by The Advocate.

As his father banged on the door, Templet eventually unlocked it and shot his father as he “asked Anthony to stop,” according to the report obtained by the paper.

Ex-NFL running back Cierre Wood, girlfriend indicted on murder, 20 child abuse charges

Former NFL running back Cierre Wood and his girlfriend Amy Taylor were indicted on murder and 20 felony child abuse charges
Former NFL running back Cierre Wood and his girlfriend Amy Taylor were indicted on murder and 20 felony child abuse charges Tuesday in connection to the death of the woman’s 5-year-old daughter, officials said.

Wood and Amy Taylor are accused of killing the child who was found lifeless in Wood’s apartment on April 9.

A judge who heard the evidence against Wood last month said it was clear the girl suffered before she died and that Wood and Taylor were responsible for her death.

Taylor, 26, and her daughter had moved into Wood’s apartment less than two weeks before the girl passed away.

Autopsy findings revealed the girl had 20 newly broken ribs, internal bleeding, a lacerated liver and bruises to her heart, diaphragm and connective tissue.

Broward sheriff fires two more deputies for “neglect of duty”

Deputies Edward Eason and Josh Stambaugh were terminated following an internal affairs investigation into seven officers who responded to the Feb. 14, 2018 shooting in Parkland.

Two other officers, Deputy Scot Peterson and Sgt. Brian Miller were fired earlier this month.

Accusations against three other deputies involved in the internal affairs probe were “non-sustained” and they will return to duty, Tony said.

“This was neglect of duty, and it was one of the most severe consequences as we lost 17 people,” Tony said of the fired officers.

A full 124-page internal affairs report released later Wednesday, first obtained by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, detailed the case against the fired officers.

Apple reportedly has demanded that Twitter competitor Parler censor “offensive” speech from its website or the Parler app will be removed from Apple’s App Store.

YouTube faces mass backlash after claiming it acted without ‘political bias’

“We’ve had a lot of questions today…clarifying, we apply our policies fairly and without political bias.

All creators are held to the same standard,” the company tweeted from its account for press updates.

That tweet received so much pushback that some noted the ratio of responses to retweets and likes — generally considered an indicator of how much support or opposition a tweet encountered.

Amid the thousands of responses, many on Twitter accused the company of flat-out lying about not applying political bias.

The pro-Trump forum is called “The_Donald” and has been placed in “quarantine” because of certain user comments posted in the forum.

Reddit is a social news site that allows for members to write content, including links and images.

Reddit has restricted a few forums in the past such as “White_Pride” and “watchpeopledie,” wrote Drew Harwell, a Washington Post reporter.

Members of “The_Donald” expressed frustration at being censored and one moderator called “shadowman3001” wrote that Reddit was giving them “an impossible standard as a reason to kill us before the 2020 election.” Other users wrote similar responses.

The White House may host a social media summit next month

SAUL LOEB via Getty Images

News of the summit comes shortly after President Trump told Fox Business Network that the US should sue tech giants like Google and Facebook and alleged that Twitter makes it hard for him to get his message out.

Trump has already held private meetings with both Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Facebook, Twitter and Google have appeared before Congress multiple times.

Given the upcoming 2020 election and how social media played a part in the last election, the summit could be very important.

But it’s unclear exactly what Trump hopes to discuss, especially given his recent criticism of the largest social media players.

Engadget has reached out to Facebook, Google and Twitter and will update the story with their responses.

Wayfair walkout: Employees stage protest over company selling goods to detention camps

In a Twitter post with the hashtag #WayfairWalkout, the protesters say CEO Niraj Shah rejected a request by more than 500 employees who signed a petition asking the Boston-based company to desist from doing business with border camps.

In response, employees said they’re taking to the streets Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. ET at Copley Square, where Wayfair has its headquarters.

Organizers are also asking Wayfair to donate all profits from such sales to the nonprofit organization RAICES, which provides legal services to immigrants.

In response to the request by the employees who signed the petition, the Wayfair leadership wrote a letter Monday commending their commitment to making a difference but also pointing out not everyone shares their perspective.

The CDC have been here to assess them. They are isolated, they only have certain specialists who can see them,” the medical professional tells Big League Politics.

“We’ve had an outbreak of mumps over here.”

“What scares me is what happens if we someone come over here with Ebola. We only need one person, and there’s a pandemic.”

“There was a female, 10 years old, who was found with 20 different types of semen inside her body.

She was dispatched to a family member. The girl who was with her who was supposedly a family member was not really a family member, just someone who bought her from her family in Guatemala.

“Pressures by cruel enemies do not affect Iranians,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told judicial officials Wednesday, according to the supreme leader’s website.

Calling the United States “the world’s most vicious regime,” he said, “Iranians have been wronged by oppressive sanctions but not weakened and will remain powerful.”

He said the nation “won’t give up” and asserted that the Trump administration’s calls for negotiations reflected its failure to achieve its goals through pressure.

Iran called the additional sanctions “outrageous and idiotic,” prompting Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to retort in a television interview Wednesday:

“That must mean they are working if they are this upset.”

In interviews with Fox, Palestinian Authority officials in the West Bank, and Hamas leadership in Gaza both described the economic portion of the peace plan as “dead on arrival.”
